special little business out of a simple idea...

Q Tell us a bit about yourself and how you came
to design these cute kids Hi Vis shirts...   A I
am a 26-year-old mum of two beautiful boys Pax
and Boston (both pictured left with their Dad
"Zooty"). I was on maternity leave from Rio Tinto
Clermont Coal, where I did administration for one
of the coal production teams. My son Pax is
obsessed with his Dad, who also works at Clermont
Coal, and always wants to look like him. I looked
around everywhere on the internet and couldnt
find where to get him a work shirt, so he could
look just like his Dad. So I decided to get a
basic pattern and alter it to look like a work
shirt. I bought some material and got my
mother-in-law to make one for me. We went down
the street with Pax wearing his shirt, looking
just like Daddy, and people started pulling us
over and asking where we got it from. Straight
away, I knew that I had to pursue this.

Q What's the response been like since you
launched the range? A The response has been
overwhelming! In the first 15 weeks alone I sold
over 1200 shirts! Mums tell me that some kids
wear the shirts the whole time their dad is away.
From feedback we've also heard that the shirts
help with those tough FIFO goodbyes, and that the
shirts make their children seem more calm while
their parent is away.

Q Anything else you would like to add? A My
family and friends have been so supportive and my
husband has been amazing. He is my driving force
and supports me 100 per cent. I have had to
employ one of my friends, who is also a
stay-at-home mum, to work one day per week for me
to help me keep on top of everything. She is
amazing and is just as passionate about my
