- No age limits what counts is level of

- either in possession of a doctoral degree, or
- at least 4 years of research experience

research background on non-stationary vibrations
analysis. - PLAXIS BV, an SME in The Netherlands, is a world
leader in the field of finite element modelling
in geotechnical engineering with emphasis on
soil-structure interaction. - This project provides a framework to bring the
two partners together with complementary
expertise, to transfer the knowledge for mutual
benefit and development.

12MABFUEL Marine Algae as Biomass for Biofuels
- The group intends to facilitate a
multi-disciplinary research programme through the
recruitment of experienced researchers aimed at
the acquisition of new knowledge and skills in
the production of biofuels from native seaweed
and cultured micro-algae. - Identify the native seaweed and cultured
micro-algal processes with most potential for
fuel production, with an economic and
environmental appraisal which will identify the
size of the farm required and the feasibility of
a commercial size operation.

- The proposed network has been built from several
existing collaborations within bilateral
programmes, from scientific collaborations and
national networks. - Structure research in Europe in the field of
micro gas flows to improve global fundamental
knowledge and enable technological applications
to an industrial and commercial level - Train ESR and ER at a pan-European level, with
the aim to providing both a global overview on
problems linked to gas flow and heat transfer in

17SemiSpinNet Initial Training Network in
Nanoscale Semiconductor Spintronics
- The ITN will supply the required
multidisciplinary and intersectorial training in
materials development, device physics and
technology and theory, which is crucial for
ensuring a highly developed research
infrastructure and a critical mass of qualified
researchers in this key research area. - Industrial partners will be central to the
training programme, ensuring that fellows have an
understanding of the needs of end-users of the
research. Transferable skills training will be
supplied to meet wider employment market needs.
18International Research Staff Exchange Scheme
- At least three institutions, two from different
MS/AC, one from a Third Country having a ST
agreement with the EU or falling under the
European Neighbourhood Policy - Industry cannot participate
- Strengthen research collaborations between Europe
and Third Countries through staff exchanges for
sustainable research partnerships, based on joint
programmes - What is funded?
- Short exchanges between European and Third
Country partners - Normally only European partners will receive
funding, but partners from ICPC countries may
receive support also - 1,800 per person-month fixed rate, no extra
travel money

- This fellowship aims to develop the career of the
researcher to a very strong position in order to
start his own research group and secure funding
to do so. - A second aim of the fellowship is to transfer
back to the European Union the leading scientific
expertise on characterisation, modelling and
application of track-etched nanopores only
available at the Siwy Research Group at the
University of California Irvine.

attracting top-class experienced researchers from

29NANHEMO Nanobiosensors for Health Monitoring
- Host Chemical Sciences, DCU
- Fellow Dr. Paolo Bertoncello. University of
Warwick (MC Individual Fellow and previously RTN
fellow) - New nanomaterials will be developed to achieve
optical-encoding capabilities for selective
tagging of a wide range of medically important
targets, including bacteria, cancer cells and
individual molecules, such as proteins and DNA,
in a single assay.
