Blockchain was hard to ignore in 2017 where the
swings in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies
dominated the daily news and the first blockchain
system- Bitcoin saw remarkable returns of over
1,300 percent. 2017 also saw the CTFC to release
a Primer on Virtual Currencies acknowledging
that Blockchain technologies can be used by
governments, financial institutions and
cross-industries to optimize everyday operations.
Many experts believe that this technology is
capable of revolutionizing every industry and
will change the world more or less in the same
scale as the Internet did. IBM being the leader,

companies introduced their own blockchain
platforms in 2017. With India perspective, the
Reserve Bank of India and other government bodies
have started making a noise on how Bitcoin and
other crypto assets need to be regulated and/or
taxed. So far, the

periodic warnings on how people should be careful
of dabbling in crypto trading, and that it did

Things will be massive in 2018. With the number
of connected devices set to top 11 billion and
thats not including computers and phones in
2018, Internet of Things will clearly continue to
be a hot topic. A research by Gartner predicts
that there will be nearly 20 billion devices
connected to the IoT by 2020, and IoT product and
service suppliers will generate more than 300
billion in revenue. Because of the huge influx of
data being created through the IoT, it is
predicted that companies will need to find a
better, closer, cheaper way to process it. Thats
why edge networking will be less of a trend and
more of a necessity, as companies seek to cut
costs and reduce network usage.
