2005 Sunrise

• In 1997 the UCC announced that Effective January
  1, 2005 all U.S. and Canadian companies need to
  be able to
• scan and process
• EAN-8 (8 digit)
• U.P.C. (12 digit)
• EAN-13 (13 digit)
• data at point of sale.

IMPORTANT NOTE

• After January 1, 2005, the UCC may need to begin
  issuing EAN-13 Company Prefixes. This will
  increase the number of EAN-13 numbers in the
  supply chain and create additional customer
  service problems.
