Title: How To Avoid Chemicals When Cleaning
1How To Avoid Chemicals When Cleaning
2- In a world where most of us are far more aware of
our impact upon the environment and want to help
preserve the planet for future generations, more
and more people are choosing natural cleaning
products, seeing it as being one small way in
which they can reduce their global footprint. Not
only are chemical free cleaning products much
cheaper and safer to use for both you and the
environment, but they are easier to source too,
with many of the ingredients sitting right at
home in your store cupboard!
3- Here are five natural housekeeping items that can
easily clean virtually everything - White distilled vinegar
- This is a great all-round product that not only
disinfects surfaces and items but deodorizes
them, too. It can remove dirt from wooden items
and quickly dissolve hard water scale deposits,
sticky residues and tarnish. For streak-free
windows, nothing beats vinegar and you can even
put a ¼ of a cup of vinegar into your laundry
cycle to help eliminate detergent completely from
your clothes.
4- Baking Soda
- This cheap, store cupboard essential also
deodorizes and neutralises nasty odours, while
making a fantastic scouring product for counters
and surfaces. If youre cleaning your carpet or
rug, simply sprinkle some baking soda onto them
first and it will help eliminate any lingering
smells, and you can even line your cats litter
tray with a cup before you add the litter. A ½
cup of baking soda followed by a cup of vinegar
poured down a drain and left for a few minutes
will help remove any blockages when followed with
boiling hot water.
5- Lemon juice
- Available all year round and incredibly cheap and
versatile, lemons and their juice can be used in
myriad different ways to clean around the home.
It can be used to cut through grease, add sparkle
to metal and to lighten or minimise staining. A
combination of lemons and baking soda works
wonders on brass, copper, bronze and aluminium
rub the item with a sliced lemon that has been
sprinkled with baking soda and youll remove
tarnish with minimum effort. ½ cup of lemon juice
can also be added to a laundry cycle to help keep
your clothes bright.
6- Washing soda
- Slightly stronger than baking soda, youll need
to wear gloves when using this product, but it
works well for more stubborn stains. To help
clean your oven, use a paste of 1 cup of baking
soda along with a ¼ cup of washing soda with
water added, apply it to the interior of your
oven and let it soak overnight. You can also add
it to your laundry cycle to help give your
detergent a bit of a boost.
7- Borax
- For solving the problem of mold and mildew, borax
can be used very effectively as a cleaning
product and can also be used instead of washing
soda as a cleaner. To help get a dirty toilet
bowl clean again, borax can be used as an
overnight stain remover simply pour a cup of it
into the toilet before you go to bed and give a
light scrubbing the next morning. When you flush,
you should find the stains and grime have
disappeared. - Do your bit for the environment by swapping to
natural products when cleaning your home, and the
next generation just might thank you for it!
