3
Luke 1910 (NAS)
  • For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save
    that which was lost.

4
John 434-38 (NAS)
  • Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, and
then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you,
lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that
they are white for harvest.  Already he who reaps
is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for
life eternal so that he who sows and he who
reaps may rejoice together.  For in this case the
saying is true, 'One sows and another reaps.' I
sent you to reap that for which you have not
labored others have labored and you have entered
    into their labor.

5
Truths
  • People are sinners.
  • There is none righteous, not even one. (Romans
    310, NAS)
  • People are loved.
  • For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall
not perish, but have eternal life. (John 316,
    NAS)

6
Truths
  • God wants us to minister His love to people
    around us.
  • You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has
come upon you and you shall be My witnesses both
in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and
even to the remotest part of the earth. (Acts
    18, NAS)
  • Walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and
gave Himself up for us, an offering and a
sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. (Ephesians
    52, NAS)

10 Ways to avoid giving your testimony.
  • Ignore Jesus' request in John 435 that we take a
long hard look at the fields.
  • Focus your energies on socially legitimate
    targets.
  • Look down on people who don't look like you.
  • Stay away from committed Christians.
  • Restrict your attention to countries where it's
impossible to openly do missionary work.

8
10 Ways to avoid giving your testimony.
  • Think how bad you are based on your own past
    failures.
  • Always imagine ministers as talented,
super-spiritual people who stand on lofty
    pedestals.
  • Be constantly in the church.
  • Preach at people.
  • Develop a critical bitter gossipy spirit.

9
Becoming a Redemptive Church
  • Clear purpose.
  • Emphasis on relational/servant evangelism.
People want to see authentic Christianity.
  • Cell groups that are relational and purpose
    driven.
  • Morning worship that is contemporary, authentic,
    interactive and sensitive to visitors.
  • Open door culture.

10
Luke 1619-31 (NAS)
  • Now there was a rich man, and he habitually
dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living
in splendor every day. And a poor man named
Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores,
and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were
falling from the rich man's table besides, even
the dogs were coming and licking his sores.

11
Luke 1619-31 (NAS)
  • Now the poor man died and was carried away by the
angels to Abraham's bosom and the rich man also
died and was buried. In Hades he lifted up his
eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away
and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried out and
said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send
Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger
in water and cool off my tongue, for I am

12
Luke 1619-31 (NAS)
  • in agony in this flame.' But Abraham said,
'Child, remember that during your life you
received your good things, and likewise Lazarus
bad things but now he is being comforted here,
and you are in agony. And besides all this,
between us and you there is a great chasm fixed,
so that those who wish to come over from here to
you will not be able, and that none may cross
    over from there to us.

13
Luke 1619-31 (NAS)
  • And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you
send him to my father's house-- for I have five
brothers--in order that he may warn them, so that
they will not also come to this place of
torment.' But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and
the Prophets let them hear them.' But he said,
'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them
from the dead, they will repent!

14
Luke 1619-31 (NAS)
  • But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to
Moses and the Prophets, they will not be
persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'"
