Fudges real name is Farley Drexel Hatcher. He
is in the kindergarten. His favorite activity is
to mise (count) his money. He draws pictures
of money, asks people how much they make and he
even made up a song about it.

Peter is a 12 year old seventh grader who is
embarrassed by his little brother Fudge. Hes
even more embarrassed when his cousins from
Honolulu, Hawaii come to stay with his family and
embarrass him at school.

Mini Fudge is Fudges three-year old cousin who
has the same name as him, Farley Drexel Hatcher.
Mini Fudge sometimes growls like a bear.

Lives in the same New York City apartment
building as Peter and Fudge and is in many of
Peters classes. She is afraid of dogs and
swimming.

Jimmy Fargo Is Peters best friend. He used to l
ive in Peters building but moved with his dad
who is an artist downtown to Soho. Peter misses
him and takes the train to visit him.
Cousin Howie and his wife Eudora
Howie Hatcher is the Hatchers long-lost cousin.
They met by accident in a gift shop. His wife,
Eudora is pregnant. Flora and Fauna They are How
ie and Eudoras twin girls who also are known as
the Natural Beauties. They love to put on
performances in public and finish each others
sentences. Uncle Feather He is Fudges pet myna
bird. He loves to say bad words and to shout out
Bonjour, Stupid. Tootsie She is Peter and Fud
ges baby sister. She loves to make animal
sounds.

Summary
Peter is a 12 year old seventh grader who lives
with his parents and brother Fudge. He has lots
of seventh grade problems including missing his
best friend, Jimmy who had to move to Soho.
Fudge is five years old and in the kindergarten.
He loves money. He has plans to buy Toys R Us as
well as the entire City of New York. He even
made up a song about money called I love money,
money, money, money, oh I love money, money,
money, money. Peter and Fudge run into all
kinds of problems when their dads long-lost
cousin, Howie from Honolulu, Hawaii and his weird
family meet up at a gift shop.

Summary -continued
The Hatchers from Hawaii are so different from
the Hatchers of New York City. They are home
schooled and dont eat junk food. They talk
their way into staying with the Hatchers in New
York City. The twin cousins, Flora and Fauna
embarrass Peter while Mini Fudge gets Fudge upset
because he breaks Fudges birds wing and
swallows his tooth. The Hatcher family from
Hawaii decide that its best to leave the Hatcher
family in New York Citys apartment but not
without causing more problems. Before Mini Fudge
left the house, he swallowed Fudges tooth.

Setting
Peter and Fudge Hatcher live in an apartment in
New York City with their parents and little
sister Tootsie.

Problems and Solutions
Problem 1 Peter and Fudges cousin Mini who is
from Hawaii let their bird, Uncle Feather out of
the cage. Uncle Feather bumped into a window and
broke his wing. Solution 1 Cousin Howie, Pet
er and Fudge took Uncle Feather to the pet
hospital. He had a broken wing and had to have a
splint put on his wing. The splint had to stay
on for six weeks. Problem 2 On Halloween, cou
sin Howie didnt want his children to go
trick-or-treating because he didnt think it was
safe and he didnt want them to have candy. He
agreed to let them go. Mini and Fudge got stuck
in the elevator for forty minutes and Mini ended
up eating seven candy bars. Solution 2 Henry
, the elevator operator called the fire
department. A fireman climbed in through the top
of the elevator and rescued them.
