About Bishnupuri Silk Saree

• Be it a board meeting or a party, the
  versatile Katan woven in Bishnupur Silk Saree is
  never out of place. Resham Shilpi has both 2 ply
  and 3 ply Katans the latter being the highest
  quality silk that PBRSSM Ltd produces. Katan is
  nothing but a thread that is created by twisting
  silk filaments to give a form to the background
  fabric. Bi-voltine twisted yarns are used in the
  warp and multi-voltine single untwisted yarns are
  used in the weft. The name Katan followed by 3
  ply or 2 ply simply tells us how many twisted
  yarns are used in the warp. If the yarn is first
  dyed and then woven, the saree gets a
  self-pattern and needs no additional
  ornamentation or printing. The undyed Katan
  fabric however is usually printed.
