Why every woman should purchase health insurance?

Women have surpassed men in many fields. They are
breaking stereotypes and reaching new heights
every day. However, one area that many women
still feel reserved about is money. Though the
percentage of women who handle their own money
matters has increased, it is still very low.
Recent studies show that 80 of women refrain
from talking about their finances with their near
and dear ones. Another study showed that a mere
13 of all married women make independent
investment decisions. This reservation to
finances holds true for health insurance as well.
Women account for only 30 of all medical life
insurance plans in India. Some rely on others for
their insurance needs through family or employer
plans. Others, especially in the beginning of
their professional lives, think they cannot
afford health insurance, even though it is
cheapest when youre young and only becomes more
expensive as you grow older. Some women think of
saving for medical emergencies, but the thing is
that, such unfortunate events have the knack of
showing up when you least expect them.
So, if you too have been putting health insurance
on the see about it later list, this article
will give you some reasons why you should
consider purchasing a plan today!

1. Risk of illness.
Studies have shown that up to 38 of all women
face the risk of chronic illness, whereas only
30 of men face the same risk. Despite this, it
is women that lack behind when it comes to health
insurance plans in India only 40 of all women
have a medical insurance cover. Out of this
number, only 22 have their own plan.

2. The increasing cost of medical care.
All illnesses are seeing a sharp rise. Between 5
and 20 percent of all women suffer from
polycystic related ovary illnesses. Close to 20
of women in their thirties suffer from Diabetes.
Since 1990, cases of ovarian cancer have
increased by 150. Blame it on the poor standard
of nutrition, the increasing pollution or the
sedentary lives we live, but this rise in
illnesses is alarming and has caused a spike in
the cost of healthcare.

3. Maternity costs.
Being a mother is a dream for many women.
However, medical expenses can seem nightmarish
for young couples. Add to this is the fact that
C-section deliveries are far more expensive and
on the rise for every 35 normal deliveries,
there are 65 caesarian deliveries. Another point
of concern is the fact that maternity benefits
are mostly offered as an add-on and come with a
waiting period. With most health insurance plans,
you will need to buy faithfully renew the
policy for 2 or 3 years before you are allowed
maternity benefits. Even after this, very few
plans will provide complete cover the rest of
the will cover only part of the cost. We hope
that, after reading this, you give health
insurance a good thought, especially if you dont
have your own individual plan. Prepare today, so
that tomorrow, come what may, you are financially
ready. Good luck and take care!
