  • AVID is designed to increase school-wide
    learning and performance. The mission of AVID is
    to ensure that all students, and most especially
    the least served students in the middle capable
    of completing a college path

Recruitment
  • Identify potential AVID students.
  • Provide program information to potential AVID
    students and parents.
  • Select AVID students.

Identify Potential AVID Students
  • Talk to counselors and teachers. Use
    Teacher/Counselor Recommendation Form.
  • Examine Student records participation in free
    or reduced lunch program, GPA, SAT 9 scores,
    class schedule, behavior and attendance records.

Provide Program Information to Potential AVID
Students and Parents
  • Have a group meeting of potential AVID
    candidates and their parents to explain
    program.
  • Pass out AVID program fliers and applications.

Select AVID Students
  • Distribute teacher/counselor recommendation
    forms.
  • Once students return applications, begin the
    interview process.
  • Send letters of acceptance or non- acceptance.

Schedule and Develop Plan for each AVID student
  • Plan a welcome reception.
