manufacturer of surf and snow boards. Their
innovative designs and effective marketing have
caused the company to grow dramatically and to
outgrow their current information systems. New
Wave has big plans for the future, including a
foray into eCommerce they want to market and

• Programming Programmers write the code
  necessary to implement an information system.
  The Information Systems program gives you the
  skills you need to be a professional programmer.
  Our students learn languages like C, Java and
  other leading edge programming languages.
• Systems Analysis You may not have heard of
  systems analysis before, but it is a critical
  role on any large information system
  implementation. Systems analysts are responsible
  for working with the actual users of a system to
  understand what the requirements for the system
  are (what the system must be able to do).
  Systems Analyst also work with programmers to
  ensure that they understand what programs must be
  written to meet the needs of the users.

  web sites for organizations. For example, web
  designers often build web sites for online

• System Architecture Architects are responsible
  for determining how best to meet the needs of
  users through the use of technology. Good
  architects are highly sought after.
• Project Management Project managers do the
  planning for information systems projects. They
  make sure that the information system gets
  delivered to the users on time and on budget and
  manage the team that is delivering the system.
• Database Administration (DBA) DBAs are
  programmers that work with a specific type of
  software called database management systems. We
  provide students hands on experience with
  state-of-the-art database management systems like
  Oracle and SQL Server.

  fingerprint or iris scan to validate it for
  authenticity. The practical implications of this
  type of product are enormous and having this
  opportunity to be on the cutting edge is
  satisfying and encouraging! I would recommend
  this degree to anyone with a thirst to succeed,
  to those who believe businesses drive the

• When I started university I had no idea what I
  wanted to pursue for a career. I knew I enjoyed
  working with people but I also wanted to obtain
  marketable skills. I enrolled in the IS program
  at St.F.X. because I had heard it provided a

  acquired through a series of hands on computer
  courses.
•  Three months before I graduated I was hired by a
  company to work as a systems analyst. I work with
  a team of nine others to troubleshoot e-mail and
  software problems. We also provide methods for
  our users to accomplish their tasks more
  efficiently. I work closely with the business
  people in our organization and with the people on
  my team.
•  I would recommend the IS program because of the
  variety of skills it helps to develop. The
  business portion of the program provides an
  understanding of the business environment and
  operations. The computer based courses focus on
  developing analytical, project and programming
