No trip to Atlanta can be said complete without a
historical tour of the civil rights landmarks in
Atlanta, Georgia. Iconic buildings like Martin
Luther King National Historic Site, the King
Centre, the Centre for Civil and Human Rights,
Atlanta history Centre are notable for being the
hub for all the civil rights movement between
1940-1970. Atlanta is home to eminent activists
and several civil rights leaders like Martin
Luther King.

The King Centre The King Centre was established
in 1968 to honor- Martin Luther King Jr. The
center is a historical museum as well as a
memorial that exhibits several artifacts,
documents, and memorabilia of Luther. It also
consists of the tomb of both Luther and his wife
the museum remains open to the public free of
cost.

Martin Luther King National Historic Site Martin
Luther King National Historic Site was
constructed between 1890-1920. This site was at
the forefront of the civil rights movement from
1955 up to 1968 until his assassination. Today it
is a park, garden, museum that features the
Children of Courage exhibition, stories about the
civil rights movements, floral interpretation,
and many ideas for following non violence.

The Centre for Civil and Human Rights The Centre
for Civil and Human Rights is another popular
civil right museum located in downtown Atlanta,
Georgia. It was launched by Mayor Shirley
Franklin in 2007 and is the first historic
landmark in Atlanta. The center has been
constructed with a mission to educate its
visitors more about the fundamentals of civil
rights for humans.

Atlanta History Centre Atlanta History Centre
was founded in 1990 and it aims to bring people,
culture, and history together. The museum
features gardens, trails, woodland areas, and
exhibitions related to the Civil war, civil
rights movements, African American heritage, and
