• Pieces are cut to length and installed to a chalk
  line.

Cross Bridging

• Wood cross bridging is typically cut from 1x3 or
  1x4 boards.

• They cross between the joists.

• The angle and length depend on the joist size and
  spacing.

Sizing Cross Bridging

• Use a framing square to measure the joist depth
  and the distance between them.

• For example, 2x10 16? OC joists will measure

9 ¼? deep, with 14 ½? between them.

• A triangle is formed.

• The hypotenuse does not line up with the bridging.

• The top corner of the joist aligns with the top
  point of the bridging.

• The bottom corner of the joist aligns with the
  bottom point of the bridging.

  bridging.

• The framing square must be positioned with this
  in mind.
