- Provide VIIRS RDR, SDR, and EDR algorithms that
function in a direct readout processing
environment - Via the DB portal (http//directreadout.sci.gsfc.n
asa.gov) - Assess the utility of using global algorithms on
a regional area in real-time - Validate Direct Readout Science Processing
Algorithms (SPAs)

- Designed to run on IBM AIX machines (bigEndian)
- Input and output data sets are maintained in
dynamic memory - Written output is in HDF5 format

memory/data flow control structure

- We are leveraging our MODIS Land experience to
build a flexible, scaleable processing system
which will aid the NASA SDS Land Science Team in
evaluation of VIIRS Land EDRs. - We are collaborating with the DRL to supply the
DB community with - Validated VIIRS Land SPAs
- Mature SPA processing modules, techniques, and
methodologies, including - Swath-based processing
- Mission-compliant data formats
- Packaging of Land SPAs (e.g. handling anc/aux
data files and IPs for real-time applications)
