Sustainable Design

• The administration is emphasizing energy
  efficiency and sustainability in its goal to
  improve energy conservation and environmental
  stewardship.
• OMB Circular A-11 provides guidance to agencies
  to do this by offering a focus on sustainable
  design (A-11 Part 2, Section 300 and 25-5)
• Application of these principles should lead to
  the implementation of more sustainable buildings

  cycle cost analysis, energy/water efficiency,
  indoor environmental quality) included in the
  requirement? Yes or No

• Added to Section 25-5, Energy and Transportation
  Management
• Incorporate sustainable building requirements
  into up front design concepts for new
  construction and/or building renovation
• Report any incurring or anticipated additional
  costs
• In many cases, sustainable design can be
  incorporated at no additional cost and will save
  money over the life of the building
