Title: Holywood Old School Preservation Trust
1Holywood Old School Preservation Trust
- Educational Heritage Worksheet
2Introduction
Holywood Old School Preservation Trust was formed
to restore the Old School on Church Road and to
make it available as a meeting place for a
variety of group activities. The Old School is
however just one of the interesting surviving
buildings situated in Holywood today. The
buildings and constructions that make up the
Holywood time-line, as covered in this worksheet,
include sites from Holywoods early Christian
past and the Norman occupation, from the
Plantation period and the late eighteenth century
growth, from the further expansion in Victorian
times after the arrival of the railway, and from
different periods in the twentieth
century. Heritage, however, does not just
involve caring for the good bits of the past,
that are still around, it also involves taking
the trouble to erect new buildings which will
provide lasting examples of architecture
today. We hope you enjoy learning about the
buildings in your town.
3Holywood Heritage Time-line
Holywood Old School Preservation Trust has
produced a series of illustrations that form a
heritage time-line and we are going to have a
