How to start a healing prayer ministry

• Some simple ideas to develop prayer teams, etc.

Just like Jesus - two by two following Him

• Disciples learn by doing Kingdom business.
  Prayer ministers learn by studying the Word,
  spending time loving on God and letting Him love
  us, and praying for others.
• There is great power in testimony and witness.
  The Word Jesus preached and demonstrated was
  powerful and effective. He preached the Word and
  you saw the Works. The Kingdom Church in cities
  are called to join together to pray for the sick,
  oppressed and lost - Mt 28 and Luke 4
• The adventure of Prayer Ministry is like no other
  - a river rafting ride with Jesus ! Healing comes
  in ways in which we may not expect.
• Words of encouragement - out in the marketplace
  using our mouth to bless others is a great way to
  change lives. Some may have never had words of
  blessing spoken over them.

Practical tips in prayer ministry

• Colossians 312 and Ephesians 4 unity
  brings much glory to God help team stay positive
  and be careful of words they speak. We have power
  of life and death in our tongue. Be sure there is
  clear authority established in leadership and
  team.
• Practice team fellowship,prayer and praise
• Maintain confidentiality - and have team sign
  covenant in this regard .
• Allow a prayer coordinator to help team grow in
  love, faith, trust and fruit John 15
• Guidelines for prayer team members - be on time,
  be committed, always ask people before you would
  touch them, be sensitive about praying in the
  spirit, give clients a sense of hope, be aware of
  time.
• When praying on a team before, after or during
  church service - think through noise level ,
  tissues, mints, and if some might want a private
  prayer place
• Pair teams - couples, men, women, mixed,
  children, youth
• Consider having weekly or monthly healing
  services
• Have one person to greet and assign people to
  prayer teams
• Optional - have a book table of healing books for
  sale

Why we pray in teams ?

• Mark 67 Calling the twelve to Him, He sent
  them out two by two and gave them authority over
  evil spirits.
• Luke 101 after this the Lord appointed 72
  others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to
  every town and place where He was about to go.
• Acts 3 - Peter and John minister to the crippled
  beggar.
• Acts 814 when the apostles in Jerusalem heard
  that Samaria had accepted the Word of God, they
  sent Peter and John to them.
• I tell you that if two of you on earth agree
  about anything you ask for, it will be done for
  you by my Father in heaven. For where two or
  three are together in My Name , there I am with
  them. Matthew 1819-20
• FOR INTERCESSION - as one team member interviews
  or prays for the one receiving ministry - the
  others can intercede on behalf of both of them
• DISCERNMENT - being quiet before the Lord to
  listen and hear and also with eyes open a must
  for prayer ministers -observe what is happening
  in the Spirit
• CONFIRMATION - one person leads and says
  something by the Spirit and another confirms -
  two witnesses !

Hearing the Voice of GOD

• my sheep know my voice - in John 104 we have
  clear instructions - And when he brings out His
  Own Sheep, He goes before them, the the sheep
  hear His Voice and he calls his own sheep by
  Name, for they know His Voice.
• Practice the spiritual discipline of putting up
  your antenna spirit man towards heaven while
  someone is speaking to you for prayer. So you are
  operating in the vertical with God and in the
  horizontal with a member of the Body of Christ or
  one to come into the sheep fold.
• Gods Children must not let the enemy tell them -
  you cant hear God like so and so does. We have
  two ears and one mouth . SO we need to listen to
  God twice as much as we speak.
• Racing minds - if you cannot slow down your mind
  that is your issue not Gods. We have the mind of
  Christ and sometimes we must press in - and tell
  our mind - which is part of our soul - you are no
  longer in charge. In your spirit with the Holy
  Spirit - tell your mind to stop racing in the
  Name of Jesus. Have your prayer team help you
  with this process to a free and peaceful mind.

• Hebrews 314 We have come to share Christ if we
  hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at
  first.
• Proverbs 2019 if you argue your case with
  your neighbor , do not betray a mans confidence,
  or he who hears it may shame you and you will
  never lose your bad reputation. A word aptly
  spoken is like apples of gold in settings of
  silver.
• Luke 119-13 So I say to you ask and it will
  be given to you seek and you will find,knock and
  the door will be opened to you. For everyone who
  asks receives, he who finds, and to him who
  knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you
  fathers, if your sons asks for a fish, will give
  him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg,
  will give him a scorpion ? If you then though
  you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your
  children, how much more will your Father in
  Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him
  ?
• Matthew 101,7-8 He called His twelve
  disciples to Him and gave them authority to drive
  out demons and to heal every disease and
  sicknessAs you go preach this message The
  Kingdom of Heaven is near - Heal the sick,raise
  the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons.

How to start an effective Healing Ministry in a
Church by Rev. Mike Flynn

• It is Sunday morning. I have just called for the
  people to gather at the table for communion. But
  first the ministry team appointed that day comes
  forward. They gather in the sanctuary about
  sixteen to twenty members. As we wait on the Lord
  He gives us an impression regarding to types of
  conditions He particularly wants to minister to
  that morning. Normally there are 15 to 25 of such
  words of knowledge 1 Cor 12 After the
  ministry team receives communion, they step over
  to a chapel area which is cleared of pews and is
  carpeted. There, in pairs, they await those they
  will pray for after they receive communion.
  Usually about 30 persons receive prayer. A
  waiting line forms along a wall of the church.
• We have been conducting ministry like this every
  Sunday for over ten years. On many of those
  Sundays over half are first time visitors and
  they have bonded to our congregation through the
  ministry of those who attend to them. Many, many
  persons have walked off the property knowing that
  they were already members of St Judes, even
  though strangers when they arrived before the
  service. For they had both met God and Gods
  people in a divine appointment.
• This ministry has become so significant that we
  no longer conclude the service with a hymn, for a
  hymn distracts from the team one on one ministry
  which is going on. So I just pronounce a blessing
  and exit stage left. This leaves the people who
  are still in the pews with the opportunity to
  pray for one another, since they do not have to
  jump up to shake my hand. And those who are
  receiving ministry do not feel off shunted by
  some liturgical action which does not include
  them.
• Teaching - have someone from your city who is
  called to train others in healing ministry come
  and train and equip you. Some basic teachings
  are the Healing Ministry of Jesus, Faith and
  Healing, Words of Knowledge, Five Step Model of
  Ministry, the Kingdom of God and Worldview, When
  They Do Not Get healed, Inner Healing, Ministry
  of the Holy Spirit, Healing the Demonized.

Developing a Healing Ministry

• Healing ministry is not counseling. Learn how to
  hone someone in when they splatter their whole
  life story - tell them when you begin - we will
  only be dealing with one main issue as we have
  time constraints - so what is main issue about
  yourself you would like to ask God about.
• New members are a key to a fruitful vine. Often
  those who get healing become team members.
• Ask Jesus - what do you want happening in the
  healing ministry at our church or small group,
  etc.
• Ask Jesus where is best place in church or in
  outreach to exercise this ministry?
• Will you use the platform or microphone to
  announce at the end or during what God is doing
  to build faith and bring Glory to God.
• DOS AND DONTS - remember who you are
  representing Jesus. Always be loving to the
  person you minister to and glorify God.
• Dial down. Wait on the Lord for what to do.
  Listen more and talk less
• Keep ministry private so as not to draw attention
  to self or the situation
• Keep everything confidential.
• Remember God can and will do what is needed. You
  only need to ask. So ask, and watch God work.
• Keep ministry to no more than 3-4 people
  including the person being prayed for.
• If you doubt the person is saved, inquire gently.
  If not briefly witness
