10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole
armor of God, that you may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.

12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the
heavenly places.

13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that
you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore,
having girded your waist with truth, having put
on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having
shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel
of peace 16above all, taking the shield of faith
with which you will be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked one.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God
18praying always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with
all perseverance and supplication for all the
saints

• The armor starts with the belt.
• Roman soldiers wore belts to secure their
  clothing and hold weapons.
• Usually made from leather or tightly woven
  fabric, around the loin area. The tunic was
  fastened to this girdle as was all the other
  pieces of their armor.
• This girdle held everything in place as well as
  holding the sword.

• A Christians survival in the world requires a
  firm grounding in the absolute truth of the
  bible.
• The truth sets us free from the devils lies and
  deception.
• The enemy downplays the consequences of sin and
  promotes its pleasures.
• Rooted in the truth we are equipped to recognize
  lies, resist the devil, and do Gods will.

How do I put on (apply) the Belt of Truth?

• Study the Word.
• Memorize the Word.
• Meditate on the Word.
• Pray the Word.
• Speak the Word over your circumstances.

Conclusion

• The battle is the Lords.
• We must fight the good fight His way.
• Not by might nor power but by His Spirit.
• We must prepare (put on) the armor.
• Without the belt, everything else falls off!
