There are MANY types of world religions.

• Christianity (Jesus Christ is son of God)
• Buddhism (a philosophy as much as religion put
  an end to the stress of existence through
  meditation).
• Judaism (Old Testament, One God, no savior yet)
• Islam (One God, Muhammad is his prophet)
• Hinduism (Many Gods with animal features, worlds
  oldest religion, with many subsets)

Religion has been a major influence on art in the
world as well.

• Christian art Scenes of Jesus, Mary, Apostles,
  etc.
• Islamic Art mostly patterns figures are not
  permitted.

• Hindu art mostly of Gods such as Shiva, Ganesh,
  Hanuman, Krishna, and Kali (underworld God).
• Jewish Art also of stories from the Old
  Testament scenes with Moses, Noah, etc.

Byzantine Art

• The Byzantine Empire formed immediately after the
  collapse of the Roman Empire.

Byzantine (Christian) Art

• Byzantine art tends to be flat, with linear
  drapery (flat clothes), gold skies, and iconic,
  unrealistic figures.
• Many figures have HALOS.
