  • Used solely as an interim action until the hazard
    is eliminated or engineering control are in place

Eye and Face Protection
  • Worn when there is a reasonable probability that
    an eye injury may be prevented or reduced by
    wearing the PPE
  • Flying particles and chips
  • Splashes from liquids such as acids, caustics,
    and solvents

Prescription Glasses
  • If prescription glasses are worn wear
  • Goggles and/or other protective devices designed
    to fit over glasses

Head Protection
  • Helmets and hats for the protection of personnel
    from the impact of falling and flying objects and
    from electrical shock and burn
  • Must meet ANSI Z89.1 (1986) specifications

  • Shell is designed to absorb impact
  • Suspension adjusted so the shell is 1.5 inches
    above the head
  • Hard hats are tested to withstand the impact of
    an 8 lbs. weight dropped from 5 ft.
  • Must also meet weight, flammability, and
    electrical insulation standards
  • Post designated areas with the appropriate signs

  • Foot injuries are most likely to occur when
