What Officers are Requesting at CFD

Career Field Designation Appeals and Transfers

• Bottom Line - the CFD Board is a DA Selection
  Board changing the results is rare and will only
  be done under extraordinary circumstances
• CFD Appeals
• Appeals considered within 180 days of the release
  date of CFD list
• Must show material error in the file that went
  before the CFD board
• Officer must present case in writing, clearly
  defining error
• Appeal Board convened quarterly
• Results approved by DCPER
• CFD Transfers
• Officer must wait 24 months after release of CFD
  board to request
• CFD Transfers considered in the same manner as
  Branch Transfers
• Officer must present case in writing, clearly
  showing need for transfer
• Considered quarterly by CFD Transfer Board
• Army requirements strongly considered when making
  determination
• CFD Transfers will not be approved 120 days prior
  to any promotion or school selection board

  -- completes all Transition Year Groups
• Total officer CFD to date 12,066
• Steady state CFD implementation with YG 89
  ongoing with all subsequent YGs.
