PARENT COMMENTS
  • I have watched the steady, positive improvements
to GMS over the past 4 years. The settling in
period has grown into a caring, well disciplined
group of students and staff. I feel that
parents have been welcomed and rewarded for their
efforts by the schools efforts and recognition.
  • We had some reservations coming from a small
school to middle school We have been pleasantly
surprised by the caring, welcoming atmosphere and
our son has never felt intimidated for lost in
the large population. The teachers have been
    approachable and enthusiasticI have really
enjoyed being involved _at_ school as a parent.
    Keep up the great work.
  • We have been very happy with our sons experience
at Glenbrook. The teachers have paid special
attention to his progress and have helped him to
    stretch himself.

65
Parent Comments
  • My daughters experience of the school community
has been very positive and rewardingshe feels a
sense of connection and belonging and has been
encouraged to express herself and be a
    contributor.
  • I am very pleased that my son has the opportunity
to be in this wonderful school. Thanks for all
of you because of your great effort to make this
    education outstanding.
  • Excellent school, and very caring teachers.
  • Overall, the school is exceptional.
  • We like the way achievement and positive values
    are awarded at GMS.
  • Thank you for a wonderful program, especially
    home ec., woodworking, tech-ed options.

66
Parent Comments
  • Ecole Glenbrook Middle School is a great school.
  • Great school, program staff.
  • Thank you all teachers!
  • We are very pleased with our childs experience
these last two years. We are happy with her
teachers and the relationships she has with them.
  • Friendly staff when visiting the school.
  • I have seen first hand how well the school is run
and how much care and attention goes into the
    kids.
  • I like that a dress code has been setI believe
it is a very important issue that needs to be
constantly looked at kids from grades 6-8 can
vary so much in their growth and development that
keeping tabs on their dress is a good equalizer
    for all.

67
Parent Comments
  • Do appreciate the teachers time for extra
    curricular activities.
  • We are very happy with the continuing effort of
all staff at Glenbrook in providing a quality
education for our child. Our compliments also to
special instruction and obvious success in the
music and drama as well as PE, sports programs.
  • Teachers have a positive outlook and the school
has provided a wonderful learning environment for
    our child.
  • Thank you for supporting my child. A great year
    for all!
  • My child is enjoying the French program at GMS
and is progressing well. I have no regrets
about putting her in the program. Thank you.

68
Parent Comments
  • I would like to see more emphasis on spelling.
  • Overall we are very happy with our daughters
school. If there is a problem its the boring
school yard and shortage of phys ed equipment.
  • More lunch time activities. The kids just seem
    to hang around. Any ideas?
  • Id like to see a question pertaining to our
library and whether or not we feel our children
are being taught how to research accurately and
    fully.
  • Please treat the children equally, whether they
are in French Immersion or not.
  • I would like to see the minutes of PAC meetings
circulated on e-mail or available to peruse on a
    web site.
  • More perks for grade 8 students.

69
Parent Comments
  • Though I think the programs and teachers offered
at Glenbrook are wonderful, I have a very basic
pet peeve. Children today are taught to speak
out, tell us how they feel, self esteem is
highlighted. So they can talk, sometimes too
much. The ingredient they are missing is
listening. We are creating a generation of kids
telling us what they want/feel but dont know how
to listen to others, that their voice is the only
    important one.
  • My child is in Dynamics and on the report card it
would be helpful to have a comment from the
    Dynamics teacher.
  • Recommend teachers coordinate the setting of
projects. Projects are too extensive with the
result that expectations are greater than the
    grade level.
