- A person dealing with the science of climate and
climatic phenomena - Climate- the prevailing or average weather
conditions of a place as determined by the
temperature and meteorological changes over a
period of years.

- A person dealing with the science of the

6The State Climate program was created in 1979
but not funded.
- The "office of state climatologist" is created
within the New Mexico department of agriculture.
The administrative and executive head of the
office of state climatologist shall be known as
the "state climatologist". The board of regents
of New Mexico State University shall appoint and
fix the salary of the state climatologist. - History Laws 1979, ch. 192, I.
7Memorandum of Agreement
- A memorandum of Agreement has transferred the
responsibilities of the State climatologist from
the New Mexico Dept. of Agriculture to the
Agricultural Experimentation Station New Mexico
State University as of January, 1997.
8- The duties of the state climatologist shall
include - Assess the effect of climate on the natural
environment, agricultural production, land and
natural resources and human health - Coordination programs to improve understanding of
climate processes, and the social and economic
implications of climate change - Develop methods for state agencies and public
institutions of higher education to participate
in the program - Disseminating climate data, information, advice
and assessments to state agencies, local public
bodies and the general public - Consult and coordination with the federal
government and other states in climate related
activities

months makes the yearly results not valid for a
lot of years. 9999 is missing data. The
spreadsheet numbers need to be divided by 100 to
get inches.

information are answered by the New Mexico
Climate Center. - The New Mexico Climate Center not only operates a
climate data collection system but processes the
data and develops tools that use climate data
from all New Mexico climate collection system to
answer questions.
