8down the road
Conceivably, Bryan High and Texas AM can have
substantial gains solely from Student Shadow Day.
However, this is only one of the myriad
activities Bryan High has implemented in their
educational curriculum to give the students a leg
up on the pile. Also, as amicable relations
increase between secondary and post-secondary
schools in local arenas, the overall communities
inevitably benefit.
9further down that road
Since Bryan High is extremely diverse in their
racial composition, the prospect of actual
diversification of students at Texas AM is
potentially accelerated. By arranging specific
introductions for these sophomores to our
university through Student Shadow Day, we are
essentially acting in a variation of college
recruitment. Many people spit out excessive
rhetoric about Diversity on our campus and on
the national scene, but there are scant attempts
at creating diversity without force.
10not quite the end of that road?
- Legislation, such as Affirmative Action, has been
created with a solid idea in mind, but has been
explained to the public and carried out in less
than stellar fashion. What is great about
Student Shadow Day is the fact that it is a
subtle, yet effective, action taken to ensure a
potential increase in diversity on campus and
this is just consequential to its primary
objective to introduce Bryan High sophomores to
the idea of higher education.
