2Introduction You have been hired by your chosen
state as the top agent in the State Travel
Bureau. It is your job to improve the current
materials sent to tourists who are considering a
visit to your state. Your assignment is to
produce an attractive and stimulating travel
brochure. The Task Your brochure will include
pictures, maps, and text. The tourist will want
to know some simple facts at a glance, important
sites to see, and how far it is from his or her
home. You will need to include some images
(photos/graphics) and a map. You have been
provided with a Rubric (requirements) for this
assignment. Follow that Rubric and your product
and grade will be successful.
3Procedure 1) Students will find a brochure
template in their H drive file labeled State
Brochure. Using Microsoft Word, students will
create a notes page in their h drive under
their name. 2) Do your research on the Internet
using the specified web sites listed on this
Travel Brochure Webquest. You may use other
print materials found in the LMC and in the
classroom. You may also use online encyclopedias
and other online resources that the Library Media
Specialist has shown you. The information you
will need is listed on the Information Needed for
your Research and Brochure page. Again, remember
to keep track of the resources used for your
Works Cited Page on the worksheet you have been
provided. 3) Produce a brochure using Microsoft
Publisher ?. 4) Create a Works Cited Page.

needed. When using the Internet use the

sources from the Districts Library Page. You
should be able to find all of the needed
information using the the Internet. If,
however, you are not able to find everything you
need you may use the print materials available in
the LMC. You may also use the official state
website by typing in those exact words official
state website in Google. Sometimes the state
abbreviation and .gov works, not always. For
example www.ny.gov. works, but for example

- Title for your brochure include the name of your
state - Name of your travel agency
- Capital and at least 1 more important city (what
makes it important?) - Current Governors name
- What is the population (the most recent
information you can find about the size and
ethnic make-up) - Chief products, industry, resources
- If you were traveling from West Nyack to the
capital of this state, how many miles is it and
what is the quickest way to get there? By car,
train, plane, etc.? - Map
- Nickname
- Name and describe three places to visit and why
they are important to visit - Name one important person from your state and why
he or she is important. - Dont forget to put your name on the

7Conclusion
- This project should have been a very rewarding
experience. It should have been fun,
educational, and have expanded your knowledge of
the United States and the use of the publishing
program utilized in your school.
