Company Eligibility
  • Must be based in Pennsylvania
  • Basic Skills Training
  • Must be a manufacturer, or technology-based
    company
  • Maximum grant 75,000 per fiscal year
  • Information Technology Training
  • Not limited to specific industries
  • Maximum grant 50,000 per fiscal year
  • Limits
  • Can only receive funding two years in a row, or
    three out of five years
  • Retail, gaming establishments, training
    providers, employment agencies,
  • government, education, and non-profits are not
    eligible.

Employee Eligibility
  • Must be a Pennsylvania resident, work full-time,
    and earn at least 150 of the federal minimum
    wage
  • Basic Skills Training
  • Front-line employee or first-level supervisor
  • Maximum grant 450 per year
  • Information Technology
  • Technical or professional IT worker
  • Front-line employee or first-level supervisor of
    manufacturing company receiving advanced
    manufacturing technology training only
  • Maximum grant 700 per year
  • Some exceptions are made for small businesses
    where non-technology workers have IT
    responsibilities.
  • Retail, gaming establishments, training
    providers, employment agencies,
  • government, education, and non-profits are not
    eligible.

Eligible Training
  • Basic Skills Training
  • Basic and/or entry level work skills
  • Defined according to the type and scope of work
    business being conducted by the employer
  • Information Technology Training
  • Uses technology to improve skill level
  • On-the-job training, orientation, sales training,
    and ESL are not eligible.
  • General education requirements towards degree
    work, advanced degree coursework, and credit
    courses towards completion of degree work not
    related to current job are not eligible.

Applying for GFTConsortia Set-aside Funds
  • DCED set aside 2.2 million to support LI
    industry partnerships in FY 2007-08
  • All GFT guidelines apply, including company and
    employee eligibility criteria and funding caps
  • Applications must be coordinated with, prepared
    by and submitted through a WEDnetPA partner

Applying for GFTConsortia Set-aside Funds
  • Although each company must complete its own
    application, all applications within an IP must
    be submitted together with a training/funding
    summary matrix (currently under development)
  • All applications for GFT set-aside funds will be
    evaluated by a review team (WEDnetPA, DCED, PA
    WIB)
  • Application deadline is February 15, 2008. Funds
    not committed by March 1, 2008, will be
    reallocated to fund traditional GFT applications
