Evolution

• 4 Areas in the Foresight Activity (Specific
  Programme)
• Emphasis on societal challenges at the beginning
  of the 7th Framework Programme (World in 2025)
• Important projects already selected regarding
  research and innovation
• EFMN will go on, it is present in the Work
  Programme 2009
• Call for Proposals will be privileged in the
  future

Political Context

• New orientations of ERA following the Ljubljana
  Process and pushed by the French Presidency are
  taking place
• Foresight will play major role grand challenges,
  support to policy, ERA-axes, thematic areas
• Shared vision, shared activitiy are becoming
  keywords for EU Research Policy
• National and EU-Activities will have to be
  combined
• Commission DGs are willing to participate to
  Foresight

SSH and Foresight

• SSH Activity will be mainly structured according
  societal challenges Foresight dimension will
  included in all the projects
• Foresight Activity will go on through specific
  exercises (challenges or ERA oriented), it will
  be also supported by individual topics
• Work Programme 2009 contains 6 topics
• 2 collaborative projects, 3 experts groups, 1
  support action Road Map 2010-2013 still to be
  defined methological aspects will have to be
  cosidered.
