    stamped.

    stamped.
  • Hydraulic Analysis
  • Linear Soils Survey Recommendations
  • Bridge Soil Boring Recommendations
  • Design Exceptions/Decision Documents
  • Bridge Design Plans
  • Roadway Design Plans

6
TEAM RECOMMENDATIONS (Continued)
  • Engineering work products recommended to be
    stamped.
  • Surface Thickness Recommendations
  • Standard Drawings
  • Standard/Supplemental Specs
  • Change Orders (when required)
  • See Web Site. When in doubt call the Registrant.
  • Shop Drawings (when required)
  • Only those drawings for which the Contractor has
to do engineering calculations i.e. light and
    signal standards.
  • Special Provisions (when required)
  • Plats (by Registered Land Surveyor)

7
TEAM RECOMMENDATIONS (Continued)
  • That the following changes be made immediately.
  • That any engineering work products not finalized
prior to December 1, 2004 will be stamped.
  • Seal each sheet of plans except, Cross-Sections,
Table of Contents, Pit plats, Quantity sheets,
and Haul Road Restrictions. That each section of
plans is stamped by designer or direct supervisor
and that the Assistant/Program Manager stamp
    title sheet as coordinator.

8
TEAM RECOMMENDATIONS (Continued)
  • That the following changes be made immediately.
  • That each district have one PE (preferable two)
who will need to be in direct supervision of
    construction oversight.
  • That the original engineering work product(s)
will be paper and stored as the original, until
archived, than the archived version is the
original and the paper can be destroyed.

9
TEAM RECOMMENDATIONS (Continued)
  • That the following changes be made immediately.
  • Electronic seals may be used on plans only. All
other engineering work products, which are
sealed, will be a rubber or crimp stamp.
  • The rules state that electronic seals may not be
used in any document that is being transmitted in
an editable digital format. Using the rubber or
crimp stamp gives us the ability to store many
documents in Filenet and transmit them
    electronically.

10
TEAM RECOMMENDATIONS (Continued)
  • That the following changes be made immediately.
  • That the direct supervisor or person in
    responsible charge developing the engineering
    work product(s) must be registered.

11
TEAM RECOMMENDATIONS (Continued)
  • That the following changes be made immediately.
  • That all changes will be made by a registered
    engineer.
  • Those changes that change the functional design
requirements will be stamped, by the original
stampee or that person assigned by the NDDOT when
    original stamper is not able
  • That construction phase revisions (changes) made
to the plans that do not change the functional
design requirements, will be stamped by a duly
registered individual who is in direct
    supervision or in responsible charge.
  • Those changes that do not change the plans or do
not change the functional design requirements
will not be stamped. (i.e. time extensions, etc.)

12
TEAM RECOMMENDATIONS (Continued)
  • That the following changes be made immediately.
  • The standard details that are continuously used
in our plans be made standard drawings wherever
    practical.

BLACK BOX SYNDROME
  • What is the Black Box Syndrome?
  • Bad data in, yields bad information out.
  • Information needs to be reviewed to make sure
    information is correct.
  • Some information needs to be studied visually
