Brief history
  • The University of Zilina was established on
    October 1, 1953 as the University of Railway
    Transport in Prague.
  • In 1959 the institution changed its name to the
    University of Transport and moved to Zilina.
  • Following wide-ranging changes at the beginning
    of the nineties, it was renamed again to the
    University of Zilina on November 20, 1996.

three-year curriculum (one year of lectures and
seminars, two years for elaboration of a thesis)
and is offered in the following fields of

Engineering.Postgraduate study concludes with a
doctoral examination and presentation of a
candidate dissertation. Successful students are
granted a doctoral degree (PhD.).
