Authors Message
What do you think the authors message about love
is?
3
AuthorsPurpose
What purpose might the creator of this poster
write about in his persuasive essay?
4
Idiom
  • An idiom is an expression, that is a term or
phrase whose meaning cannot be deduced from the
literal definitions and the arrangement of its
parts, but refers instead to a figurative meaning
that is known only through common use.

5
Birds of a feather flock together.
This idiom refers to people with similar
characteristics and interests spending time
together. Example Those trouble-makers who
hang out together and steal are all the same!

Poetry
  • Poetry (from the Greek "p???s??", poiesis, a
"making" or "creating") is a form of art in which
language is used for its aesthetic and evocative
qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its
    ostensible meaning.

7
Personification
  • A personification is a figure of speech that
gives an inanimate object or abstract idea human
traits and qualities, such as emotions, desires,
    sensations, physical gestures and speech.

8
Prose
  • Prose is writing distinguished from poetry by its
greater variety of rhythm and its closer
    resemblance to everyday speech.
  • Prose writing is usually adopted for the
description of facts or the discussion of
whatever one's thoughts are, incorporated in free
    flowing speech.

9
Theme
  • In literature, a theme is a broad idea in a
story, or a message or lesson conveyed by a work.
This message is usually about life, society or
human nature. Themes are the fundamental and
often explore universal ideas in a literary work.
Themes are usually implied rather than explicitly
    stated.

10
What are some possible themes?
11
Push through your destiny awaits!
What is your dream?
12
Inference
  • Inference is the act or process of deriving a
conclusion based solely on what one already
    knows.

13
Can you infer what interest these best friends
have in common?
