Course Description
  • Management aspects of ergonomics and human
    factors engineering. Topics include
    Introduction to ergonomics and human factors
    principles, the business case for ergonomics,
    understanding cumulative trauma and neurovascular
    disorders, development and implementation of
    ergonomics programs, economic aspects, regulatory
    aspects, work organization, job satisfaction,
    quality and productivity aspects, strategic
    issues and trends, and certification.

Course Objectives
  • The primary objective of this course is to
    provide TM students with an introduction to the
    management of ergonomics. At the end of the
    course, students should
  • 1.       Understand the terminology associated
    with ergonomics and ergonomics management.
  • 2.       Understand the function and role of the
    manager in ergonomics issues.

  • 3.   Understand the breadth and depth of
    ergonomics management issues in organizations.
  • 4. Become familiarized with some of the tools and
    techniques used in the identification,
    evaluation, and control of musculoskeletal
    disorders and neurovascular disorders commonly
    associated with ergonomics.
