2007-2008 Planning and Budgeting Process
  • Memo from Dr. Bataille dated Sept. 20, 2006 to
    Vice Presidents, Deans and Selected Program
    Directors (copy to Chancellor Senate Chair)
  • Outlines the budget preparation process
  • Provides for budget hearings
  • States Two representatives each selected by the
    Faculty Senate and the Staff Council will always
    be invited to attend the hearings.

2007-2008 Planning and Budgeting Process
  • Faculty Senate representatives will be invited
    to participate in the budget hearings and are
    invited to ask questions and make comments at the
    proceedings. At least two Faculty Senate
    representatives should be present at each hearing
    and an effort should be made to ensure that
    representatives should be present at each hearing
    and an effort should be made to ensure that
    representatives are not from the units making the
    presentations.

Faculty Senate Representatives
  • Faculty Senate Budget Committee has been charged
    to have a representative at each hearing.
  • Faculty Senate will elect a representative and an
    alternate from the faculty to attend the
    hearings.
  • The EC identified faculty who were willing to
    serve.
  • Nominations from the floor are welcome.

  • EC moves nomination of faculty members who have
    agreed to serve.
  • Senators will nominate additional candidates (no
    second is required)
  • Dates for Budget Council hearings
  • Nov. 27 (10 to 5)
  • Nov. 29 (1 to 5)
  • Dec. 1 (3 p.m.)
  • Dec. 6 (8 to noon)

Hearings
  • First vote Representative
  • Second vote Alternate
  • Process top vote getter is the winner (plurality
    vote).
  • In case of a tie, there will be a run off.
