New York Power Authority

• NYPA owns and operates 18 power plants and 1,400
  circuit-miles of transmission lines, supplying
  one-fifth of New York States electricity.
• NYPA is New York States leading supplier of
  renewable power with close to 75 of its
  generation coming from hydropower.
• NYPA invests in life extension and modernization
  of its hydropower resources as well as wind
  power, solar energy, fuel cells and other
  advanced energy technologies.
• NYPA energy efficiency services help schools,
  office buildings and other public facilities
  conserve power and cut energy costs.

  mid-1980s
• Annual budget over 125M in investments
• NYPAs Formula Provide turn key services
  including audit, design, construction and
  complete project closeout
• Provide up front financing with recovery from
  participants usually within 10 years through
  energy savings
• To date, over 1.3B has been invested with
  improvements in over 3,100 public and not for
  profit facilities
• NYPA will invest 1.4B in energy efficiency and
  clean energy technologies through 2015 to support
  the Governors 45x15 plan and the Mayors PlanYC
• 400 projects currently in progress at 800
  facilities

North River Wastewater Treatment Plant

• Boiler plant and hot water piping replacement
  project at the 1.2M square foot facility on the
  West Side of Manhattan
• Distribution piping leaks resulting in a loss of
  30,000 gallons of hot water per day
• Install 4 new low pressure steam boilers (3-800
  BHP, 1-200 BHP) and replace 25,000 linear feet of
  hot water distribution piping

• Nationally recognized Refrigerator replacement
  program which included a comprehensive recycling

  inefficient hot water heaters with newer
  technology

Program Results

• Program has produced over 100 million in annual
  recurring customer savings statewide
• Energy improvements have been completed in over
  3,100 public and not for profit facilities
• Savings equate to over 2 million barrels of oil,
  2 million MMBtus and over 820,000 tons of
  greenhouse gases avoided annually.
• Yielded reduction of over 200 MW and 1,000 GWH
  off the grid
