Semester Abroad Requirement

  • Enroll in IB 495 (only offered in the
    Fall/Spring Semester)
  • 150 hours (250 if done abroad)

Study Abroad
  • Prior to going abroad, students must
  • Be upper division in the major for at least one
    semester (except for Chinese, Japanese, Russian,
    and Arabic)
  • Have completed 2 (3 is recommended for French)
    upper division language courses (except for
    Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and Arabic)
  • Attend a mandatory IB Study Abroad General
    Orientation (except for Japanese) one year prior
    to going abroad

  • 12 units 2 business courses and 2 Language or
    Regional/Cultural courses (except C, J, R, A)
  • Business courses that will be taught in the
    target language (except for C, J, R, A)

  • Mandatory Group Advising during first semester
    for all new students
  • Individual appointments available by
    appointment only (Always bring a current DARS to
    each appointment), appointments made by phone or
    in person only, not by email
  • E-mail or phone (general info only) always
    include your RED ID in your email
  • Advising on your GEs is done at Advising
    Evaluations (SSW 1551)

IB Major Restrictions
  • A student cannot emphasize in the language that
    was the language of instruction at their high
    school
  • Students cannot double major or minor in any
    department in the College of Business (i.e.
    Finance)
  • Students cannot double major or minor in the
    language or cultural studies that they are
    emphasizing for IB
