1. The Victorian Government offers a 10,000
First Home Owner Grant in Melbourne to help first
home buyers purchase their first new home in
Melbourne. The grant is available for homes
valued up to 750,000 and must be purchased on or
after 1 July 2023.

To be eligible for the FHOG, you must
1. Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
2. Be aged 18 or over
3. Not have owned or occupied a property in the
past five years
4. Occupy the new home as your principal place of
residence for at least 12 months

You can apply for the FHOG online or by mail. The
application form is available on the State
Revenue Office website.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind
when applying for the FHOG
1. The grant is not available for investment
properties or holiday homes.

2. The property must be a new home that has never
been lived in before.
3. The contract price of the property must be
750,000 or less. You must apply for the grant
within 12 months of settlement.
