18The Petroleum Industry for Mechanical Engineers
19Booming Industry
- High demand
- Employing many new engineers including Mechanical
Engineers - Increased growth
- Companies are able to pay their engineers more
money than engineers in other industries/disciplin
es - Large salaries with superior benefits
20Booming Industry
21Aging Workforce
- Most engineers in the petroleum industry are
approaching retirement age quickly - Many leadership opportunities will be opening up
in the next few years - For an entry-level engineer
- Capable of advancing in the management chain
faster than in other industry disciplines - Enhance salary faster
22Interesting Facts
- Travel Opportunities
- Current oil supply/demand gives way to Petroleum
exploration in other countries - Demand for employees willing to travel
- Visit other countries at the companys expense
23Interesting Facts
- Cutting-edge Technology
- Development of compact- separators
- Used for downhole and subsea gas/liquid
separation - Implementation of ROVs
- These robotic vessels are used for deep sea
exploration when looking for oil in the sea floor
