5The Secret Agenda
- Did you know, that Career office directors at
several colleges across the country say that
employers have begun to use Facebook, MySpace,
and Friendster to look up candidates before
making the choice of hiring them? - This is stirring up huge concerns for students
looking for jobs and internships - The Major problem is that most college students
profiles are littered with evidence of underage
drinking, provocative behavior, political
beliefs, religious beliefs, and other personal
information - This is a new growing trend for employers to
perform background checks for their potential
employees
6Opinion
- I believe that personal websites should not be
used Against you when it comes down to applying
for a job - There should be a line between your professional
life, and social life - Social behavior has no effect to your behavior in
the work force - Qualified applicants are being shot down
nationwide for job spots because of their
information on MySpace accounts
7Opinions
- There are many mixed opinions about this topic
nationwide
That doesnt seem right. I think employers
should let you know ahead of time. Shouldnt
there be a line between professional and social
world? I would hope, - Maggie Sheahan 08
I think its scary. Dean Quinley told me that
she looks up students profiles and shes
registered as an undergrad. After I heard that
and I heard that people who work for Teach for
America are looking up people before they hire
them, I changed my profile so only friends could
view my profile, said Rebecca Sheehan-Stross

decorated with the word beer. - The University of Michigan, and the University of
Penn have adopted the use of Facebook monitoring
