2
What is art? According to the definition from
Oxford Dictionary, arts are subjects of study
primarily concerned with human culture, as
contrasted with scientific or technical subjects.

3
Art and technology are different subjects, but,
they are converging.
4
In our human history, arts at different ages are
always developed combining with the progress of
different technologies.
5
whether the materials of visual art, or the
instruments used to created music, or the
structures and materials of architecture, the art
most readily associated with the shaping of
technological form. -by Andrew Murphie and
John Potts
6
  • In ancient China, pottery art and bronze art
were greatly developed as a result of progress of
ceramic making and bronze casting technologies.

7
  • Chinese black ceramic

8
  • Chinese Qin Dynastys Bronze ware

9
  • The Frenchman Louis Lumiere's invention began the
    motion picture era.

10
  • With the appearance of computer technology,
computer drawing, music and design are produced
    and developed accordingly.

11
As an artist, inventor and scientist, Leonardo
thought that arts could fly higher in the sky
with the wings of technology.
12
New art forms appear.
  • The traditional, distinct boundaries governing
media in art, such as painting, sculpture, film,
performance, architecture and dance, now are also
being blurred, as artists have begun converging
media to create hybrid art forms.

13
Postmodern artists desired to produce art that
was more accessible to a general public than had
been the case in much of modernism.-by Andrew
Murphie and John Potts
14
Art can be interactive
  • With the advent of digital technology, the
audience can play integral participant roles in
front of interactive artwork, which realize that
    artworks could transform viewers into
    participants.

15
  • In the Data cloud, users fly through the entire
    collection.

16
Technology is claimed to be able to make everyone
an artist.
17
  • For example, with the emergence of portable
video device, the video art is brought into life,
and everyone can make their own film.
  • You yourself can be the director, the
photographer, the editor and even the actor.

18
People even without much formal art training can
create their own artworks with the help of
technology.
