Composite Volcano
The Somma-Vesuvius volcanic complex is a central
composite volcano formed by and older
stratovolcano (Monte Somma) with a summit caldera
partially filled by the composite cone of
Vesuvius.

discharged to form a cauliflower-shaped cloud
high above the volcano.
