Start By a. Remove the implement
pump. NOTICE Care must be taken to ensure that
fluids are contained during performance of
inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and
repair of the product. Be prepared to collect
the fluid with suitable containers before
opening any compartment or disassembling any
component containing fluids. Refer to Special
Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool
Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to
collect and contain fluids on Cat
products. Dispose of all fluids according to
local regulations and mandates.

Personal injury can result from being struck by
parts propelled by a released spring force. Make
sure to wear all necessary protective
equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and
use all recommended tooling to release the
spring force.
9. Mark the orientation of head assembly (15) in
relation to pump body for reassembly purposes.
Remove bolts (14) from head assembly (15).
17
10. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device
to remove head assembly (15) from pump body
(12). The weight of head assembly (15) is
approximately 27 kg (60 lb). Note The head
assembly bearing can be damaged if the head
assembly is not lifted straight up, use caution.
Best to cover the shaft spline before lifting the
head assembly to lower possibility of the head
assembly bearing damage. The port plate can fall
off when lifting the head assembly. Look to
secure the port plate as lifting the head
assembly from the pump body. Look to confirm
that the control and bias actuator pistons are
released from the head assembly.
