  • Start By
  • Remove the final drive and the sprocket.
  • Remove the track brakes.

    final drive onto Tooling (A). The weight of the
    final drive is approximately 748 kg (1650 lb).
  • Remove bolts (1) and sprocket segment (2). Repeat
    for all segments.

  • Place shaft (10) and the bearing cone in a
    position to remove the remaining bearing cone
    from the other end of shaft (10).

bar to loosen ring gear (16) on the spindle.
Attach a suitable lifting device to the ring
gear (16). The weight of ring gear (16) is
approximately 68 kg (150 lb). Remove ring gear
(16).

    hub (18).
  • Note Maximum pressure must not exceed 39300 kPa
    (5700 psi) or damage to the Tooling or the
    component could result.
  • Remove bearing cone (17).

weight of hub (18) is approximately 108 kg (240
lb). Remove hub (18).

  2. Use Tooling (E) to remove bearing cone (22).
  3. Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device
    to hub assembly (24). The weight of hub assembly
    (24) is approximately 136 kg (300 lb). Remove
    bolts (23), hub assembly (24), and O-ring seal
    (26).
  4. Remove bearing race (25) from hub assembly (24).

Note Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and
the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the
components, if necessary.

    install shim. Do not exceed 3 shims.End play must
    not exceed 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) (C).

  • Reposition housing assembly (30) onto Tooling
    (A). Apply Tooling (H) to thrust plate (29).
    Install thrust plate (29).

7. Raise the temperature of bearing (28) and
install bearing (28) onto gear (27). Attach
Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to gear
(27). The weight of gear (27) is approximately 43
kg (95 lb). Install gear (27).

  • Lower the temperature of bearing race (25) and
    install bearing race (25) into hub assembly
    (24).
  • Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device
    to hub assembly (24). The weight of hub assembly
    (24) is approximately 136 kg (300 lb). Install
    O-ring seal (26), hub assembly (24), and bolts
    (23). Tighten bolts (23) to a torque of 300 40
    Nm (221 30 lb ft).
  • Raise the temperature of bearing cone (22) and
    install bearing cone (22).
  • Install Duo-Cone seal (21). Refer to Disassembly
    and Assembly, "Duo-Cone Conventional Seals -
    Install".

into hub (18). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,

  • Position plate (9) and install bolts (8).

a torque of 300 55 Nm (221 41 lb ft). Torque
bolts an extra 1/3 turn.

    drive. The weight of the final drive is
    approximately 748 kg (1650 lb). Remove the final
    drive from Tooling (A).

  • Install the track brakes.
  • Install the final drive and the sprocket.

    (5) and plates (6).

    (80 lb). Position track brake (3) and install

  • Remove Tooling (A).

Personal injury can result from being struck by
parts propelled by a released spring force. Make
sure to wear all necessary protective
equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and
use all recommended tooling to release the
spring force.
  1. Use two people to position housing (1), Tooling
    (A) and Tooling (B) into a suitable press. The
    weight of housing (1) is approximately 36 kg (80
    lb).
  2. Use a suitable press, Tooling (A), and Tooling
    (B) to compress the springs. Remove retaining
    ring (2). Remove Tooling (A).
