  • Install the O-ring seal and plug (29) into head
    (22). Tighten plug (29) to a torque of 12 1 Nm
    (105 5 lb in).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded
can cause bodily injury. To prevent possible
injury, follow the established assembly procedure
and wear protective equipment.
  1. Install lower 2 bolts (21). Remove Tooling (B).
  2. Install the 2 top bolts (21).
  3. Tighten bolts (21) to a torque of 430 43 Nm
    (315 30 lb ft).

  • Install O-ring seal (20) onto guide (19).
  • Install guide (19), O-ring seal (18), nut (17),
    and screw (16) into plug (11).
  • Tighten nut (17) to a torque of 16 1 Nm (140
    8 lb in).

37. Install spool (15), guide (14), spring (13),
spring (12), and plug (11) into valve assembly
(3). Tighten valve assembly (3) to a torque of
170 17 Nm (125 12 lb ft).

re must be taken to ensure that fluids are
contained during performance of inspection,
maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of
the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid
with suitable containers before opening any
compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication,
NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools
and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids
according to local regulations and mandates.
  1. Drain the hydraulic fluid. Refer to Operation and
    Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil".
  2. Open the engine hood. Remove the access panel on
    the right side of the engine.

  • Installation Procedure
  • Install piston pump (5) in the reverse order of

    ring (43). When retaining ring (43) is removed,
    the spring force will be released. Removal of the
    internal components in barrel (38) should be
    performed in a press. This is done to retain
    spring (42) and retaining ring (43).
  • Use a suitable press and Tooling (A) to compress
    the spring in barrel assembly (38).
  • Remove retaining ring (43) from the barrel
    assembly (38).
  • Remove retaining ring (43), spring (42), guide
    (41), and pins (40) from the barrel assembly.
