Start By A. Remove the push-pull hook. Refer to
Disassembly and Assembly, "Push-Pull Hook -
Remove and Install". 1. Move the ejector to the
eject position.

2. Remove guard assemblies (1) .

assembly (2) and the clips. Reposition harness
assembly (2) .

in drive shaft (6). Use Tooling (A) in order to
partially remove drive shaft (6) .

lifting device to drive shaft (6). Remove drive
shaft (6). The weight of drive shaft (6) is
approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

Use two people in order to remove tube assembly
(8). The weight of tube assembly (8) is
approximately 24 kg (52 lb).

• Install bearing (19), spacer (20), and bearing
  (21) into bearing cage (16) .
• Install the bearing dowels and plugs (22) .

(18) with the lubricant that is being sealed. 3.
Use Tooling (D) to install seal (18) into bearing
cage (16) .

install studs (17). Tighten studs (17) to a
torque of 55 10 Nm (41 7 lb ft). Install
bearing cage (16) and nuts (15) . Note Steps 5
through 12 must be preformed in order to ensure
proper alignment of the engine assembly to the
axle.

Tooling (E). Install Tooling (F). Hand tighten
Tooling (F) only.

7. Install Tooling (G) into Tooling (E) .

(H). Use Tooling (G) to check the alignment of
the axle housing and the engine.

the axle housing and the engine are in
alignment. If necessary, adjust the position of
the engine in order to achieve alignment.

  radius toward the shoulder of yoke assembly (9)
  .
• Install bearing (11), spacer (12), bearing (13),
  and spacer (14) to yoke assembly (9) .
• Use Tooling (C) to install retaining ring (10) to
  yoke assembly (9) .

15. Install yoke assembly (9) .

installation of tube assembly (8), place a dial
indicator on the face of the yoke assembly.
Indicate the outside diameter of yoke of the
transfer gear. This reading must not exceed 5 mm
(0.2 inch) total indicator reading. 16. Use two
people in order to position tube assembly (8).
The weight of tube assembly (8) is approximately
24 kg (52 lb). Install bolts (7). Tighten bolts
(7) to a torque of 435 20 Nm (321 15 lb ft).

Scavenge Pump and Mounting (Flywheel) -
Disassemble SMCS - 1167-015 Disassembly
Procedure Start By A. Remove the flywheel
scavenge pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,
"Scavenge Pump and Mounting (Flywheel) -
Remove". NOTICE Care must be taken to ensure
that fluids are contained during performance of
inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and
repair of the product. Be prepared to collect
the fluid with suitable containers before
opening any compartment or disassembling any
component containing fluids. Refer to Special
Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer
Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies
suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids
according to local regulations and mandates.
