The Five Rules of Fractions
  • 1. Identify what the whole is.
  • 2. Tell the number of equal parts the whole has
    been cut into. (DENOMINATOR)
  • 3. Tell the number of equal parts we are talking
    about. (NUMERATOR)
  • 4. If you move the pieces around, it is still
    the same fraction, it just looks different.
  • 5. If you replace some pieces with a single,
    larger shape that covers the same area, it is
    still the same fraction.
