History From Analog to Digital
  • In 1965, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems
installed in New York City Municipal Building
    near City Hall.
  • Charged Coupled Device camera (CCD), which used
    microchip computer technology, broadened the
practical applications of video surveillance by
making low-light and night recording possible.
  • During the 1990s, Digital Multiplexing enabled
recording on several cameras at once, time-lapse
    and motion-only recording.
  • Digital video surveillance provided a cheaper,
faster, and more efficient means of manipulating
the imagesto improve clarity even further by
adjusting light, enhancing resolution, and zoom.
  • Streaming video across the Internet via
satellites allow remote surveillance systems to
be accessed from anywhere in the world.
