FSI Overview

• Created in 1947 FSI is the primary training
  institution for the U.S. foreign affairs
  community
• FSI is one of five Federal E-Gov E-Training
  providers and is an Information Systems Security
  Line of Business Shared Services Center
• Over 600 classroom courses, 70 foreign languages
• Serving DoS and 47 other USG entities
• More than 130 custom distance learning products
  and over 3,000 commercial courses available
  worldwide 24/7 through the Internet
• Schools SPAS, SLS, SAIT, LMS, TC, ADST
• FY07 course enrollments exceeded 50,000

• The School of Professional and Area Studies
  (SPAS) provides
• Job related training for the Foreign Service
• Professional development for DOS personnel
• The Stability Operations Division
• Is one of ten divisions within SPAS
• Provides Area Studies training and language
  overview for Iraq-bound individuals
• Provides training for members of Iraq and
  Afghanistan Provincial reconstruction Teams
• Provides training for Active and Standby
