2
Twitter is the future?
3
Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what
you can do. John Wooden
4
Breakfast vs. Fast Break
  • Zach Braff (on DVR) talking Twitter w/ Ellen I
dont care what you had for breakfast.
  • Meanwhile, I get an email alerting me to a tweet
from a potential client while Im watching
    Ellen -)

5
How did _at_dwferrell choose me?
  • It could have been this tweet which has
served me well on multiple fronts.
  • But that tweet was too old to be found in
Twitters search. So it was more likely my bio

6
Quotable Tweet Length 140 - 4 - UN
  • When Twittering, think about leaving yourself
some room to be easily quoted.
  • For example, RT _at_OatesTom is 12 characters, so
he should stop at 128 characters max.

7
Room for comment is even better!
  • By keeping the tweet even shorter _at_OatesTom gives
_at_MurrayComm room to chime in too.
  • While much of Twitter is about promotion and
marketing, its wise to remember opportunities
    for conversation too.

8
Dont worry about making mistakes
  • If you're not making mistakes, then you're not
doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes
    mistakes. John Wooden
  • This is good, because Ive certainly made a few

9
Crowdsourced curation of your Tweets
Above A Widgetbox widget thatpulls in an RSS
feed of tweets re-purposed through Yahoo! Pipes.
Left A search.twitter.com list of tweets
containing RT and _at_chadrem
10
Not everything, just the echos
  • Dont worry about catching everything thats
going on in Twitter. Its an echo chamber. Just
make sure you can catch the echoes. Big-deal
items get circulated quickly and on a massive
    scale.

11
Easy Twittering without an iPhone
  • I added entries for Twitter (40404) and TwitPic
as the first two entries in my address book.
  • Then, when I want to Twitter via text, its just
    a little bit quicker.

12
Use TweetLater in your newsletter
  • TweetLater is a service that lets you (surprise!)
schedule tweets for later. But it does so much
more. Including sending you HTML updates of _at_
replies. So, why not use them in your own web
    publishing?

13
Instant notes at conferences
  • Target smaller, breakout sessions
  • Set up a post on your blog ahead of time.
  • Pre-populate with details about session
  • Link to its individual page (if it has one).
  • Take comprehensive notes OFFLINE
  • Each note should make you say "hmmm" or "aha" to
    yourself
  • Don't try to get everything

14
Instant notes at conferences (contd)
  • Spell check.
  • Seriously.
  • Post to your blog.
  • Grab the link / shrink the URL.
  • Firefox add-on for http//is.gd or others
  • Tweet with link to your post AND THE HASHTAG for
    the event.
