The Place3s Tool

• Place3s is an extension to ArcView 3x.
• It is available for FREE, but there is no support
  for it.
• EcoInteractive has created an internet version of
  the application which runs over the web.
• The Place3s extension and basic data are on a Cal
  Poly CITRIX server.
• CITRIX client software has been installed (for
  free) in each of the seven jurisdictions and at
  the county.

• In a Place3s project we create and save
  alternative scenarios.
• Existing land use serves as a baseline scenario
  to compare proposed land use changes and evaluate
  development impacts.
• The software compares those scenarios against a
  set of indicators contained in a Development Type
  database.

The Workshop

• Members of the community and stakeholders get
  together to review existing maps and brainstorm
  ideas for new development.
• Development Type menus enable participants to
  create alternative scenarios.
• The scenarios are compared on the fly to assist
  in developing new ideas.
