Concerning EAB Alignment With IEEE 2004
Strategic Issues
  • 1. Products and Services
  • 1.1 Users have difficulty accessing and
    navigating through IEEE information and
    intellectual property
  • 1.2 The conference business is one of the most
volatile lines of business for IEEE XELL
    Initiative Addresses Issue
  • 1.3 Universal digital archives and increased
interest in self-publishing by authors pose a
threat to IEEEs position amongst the world
    leaders in technical publishing
  • 1.4 The current IEEE business model is outdated
in the context of the current business climate
  • 1.5 IEEEs role in engineering education is not
well defined EABs Activities and XELL
    Addresses Issue
  • 1.6 The value proposition of IEEE membership is
    being questioned
  • 1.7 IEEE lacks content for practicing engineers
and in new, emerging fields XELL Addresses
    Issue
  • 1.8 IEEE does not have an effective methodology
or process to identify the future needs of its
    members and customers
  • 2. Volunteerism
  • 2.1 IEEE does not have enough volunteers for some
    positions
  • 2.2 IEEE has difficulties finding qualified
volunteers, especially for higher level positions
  • 2.3 IEEE is not effectively leveraging the
    expertise of its experienced volunteers
  • 3. Industry Relations
  • 3.1 Too many industry managers do not recognize
the value of IEEE XELL Addresses Issue

problem solving skills and critical thinking to
K-12 students, to prepare more students to pursue
    engineering PCEC
