• Primarily a form of interior decoration, the
  name deriving from the rocaille motif of
  shellwork and pebbles ornamenting grottoes and
  fountains.
• Everything from woodwork and floors, to
  furniture, clothing, silverwork, and china was
  overwrought with curlicues, flowers, shells, and
  leaves.
